Have you been putting off getting a new headshot taken? Do you need to update your linkedin or Facebook profile? Well now is the time to bite the bullet and get it done!

Best Attire for Business Head Shots

Wear what you think you like best and bring 2 alternate choices. Contrary to popular belief, there are no absolutes when selecting wardrobe for portraits. Feel free to bring anything that makes you feel like a million bucks. Make sure clothing is cleaned, pressed and fits you well.

Men | Dark, solid jackets with a colored shirt and a colorful tie seem to make the best shots. Alternatively, a coat and dress shirt, no tie is also a great look.

Women | Medium to dark, solid colors are the way to go. Alternatively rich jewel-toned wardrobe (red, blue, green, purple) will also pop. Please avoid pastels or colors that wash out unless you pair it with a dark jacket, sweater, or scarf. EXCEPTION: A white or cream suit can look really great.

Clothes to Avoid

Busy patterns. tweeds or plaids (they will appear to move in digital format)
Sleeveless or short-sleeved shirts (your arms will distract from your face)
Turtlenecks (you will look like a floating head)
Deep, plunging necklines
Accessories

Jewelry is best simple unless your style is flashy and it is a signature for you. In that case, go for it.

Grooming

Please arrive camera ready. You should wear your hair and makeup the way you would when you are trying to look spiffy. Don't over-do it, but feel pretty. It\s a good idea to have powder and your favorite lipstick with you. The studio is fully equipped with a dressing area for you hang your clothes, a mirror, hair styling tools and product and even makeup for touch ups.

Facial Hair | If you wear facial hair, make sure it is well-groomed. The rest of your face should be fresh-shaven. Your session includes basic retouching but that does not include razor stubble.

Nails | Your hands may or may not show in the photo but be prepared with clean nails. Polished or unpolished is fine, just not dirty or chipped.

Hair | In addition to styling on the day of the session, please make sure your haircut is the way you like it and that your hair color is at its best including your roots.

Skincare| Avoid tan lines or sunburns. Blemishes are easily retouched, so don't worry about those.

Communication | Let me know if you have any special preferences. In this digital age, there is no reason to leave the session without the perfect images. I am committed to shooting enough frames to make you feel comfortable paired with Photoshop tricks to make sure you are polished and professional without appearing plastic or pretend.
