Growing Up, Year After Year - A Family’s Portrait Story

Some family sessions are extra special, and this is definitely one of them!

I’ve had the privilege of photographing this family for almost 18 years, capturing their story at least once every year and often more than that. Watching their children grow up in front of my camera has been such a joy!

These portraits were taken last November 1, and just look at those beautiful fall colors! You never know exactly how long the fall color will last, but last year, November 1 was absolutely beautiful!

It’s been quite a year for this family. After their oldest daughter’s injury last fall, there was lots of therapy, a very busy senior year, and then, just TWO days after high school graduation, she was off to college! Life has been full, and we are just now getting these newest portraits hung in their hallway this week.

This is the third time we’ve updated the family portraits in their hallway, and here’s my favorite part: we’re using the same original frames they purchased about 16 years ago! I just love that they’ve continued to update their portraits as their family has grown, while keeping those beautiful frames. And I absolutely LOVE how this latest collection turned out!

Be sure to look at the very last photo in this post! I’m sharing an image from about 15 years ago, when they first became a family of FIVE. It’s hard to believe how much has changed since then!

This is one of my favorite things about printed family portraits. They become part of your home and your family’s history, growing and changing right alongside you. I’m so thankful this family has trusted me to preserve so many chapters of their story over the years.
